Yes, I will be glued to the first day of confirmation hearings for SCOTUS nominee Katanji Brown Jackson. She is eminently qualified and has been previously confirmed for lower court positions. This should be a breeze. But it won’t be. It will of course be a Purely Partisan Pomposity Parade led by hobby horses Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham.
My prediction? Judge Jackson will remain cool, pleasant, judicial, on-point and even charming. Note that her surname is not Kavanaugh.
This will be The Week in Ukraine. One way or the other. Putin now clearly wants to strike a deal. Zelensky now clearly wants to strike a deal. But that deal cannot and will not involve giving Ukrainian territory to Russia.
By the way, has there EVER been a bigger face-job than Russian cosmonauts arriving at the International Space Station wearing Ukrainian colors? So well planned and executed. And what’s Putin gonna do? What CAN he do? Beautiful.
I hope that today’s announcement that the U.S. has determined that Myanmar’s military committed genocide and crimes against humanity against the Rohingya in 2017 does not go unnoticed or unheralded. Pay attention, Mr. Putin.
