I took great inspiration and instruction from Brian Harman’s victory. In its own quiet way—in his quiet way—it was one of the greatest sporting feats of our time. There were an unlimited number of reasons for him to fail, and he surrendered to none of them. To command the moment, one must first command oneself. Harman’s self-control was exemplary.
He turned noise into Nirvana.
One cannot roar without first being quiet.
Brian Harman quietly made a loud and joyful noise.
We would be wise to take note.
