Allowing an established, documentable, verifiable lie to go unchallenged in the name of “going along and getting along” and “respecting everybody’s opinion equally” is not only not ethical, it is patently unethical. It is a black hole of conscience that sucks up all truth and creates an ethical vacuum.
People must always be afforded human respect. But this idea that “all opinions must be respected” is a sophisticated form of gaslighting. Essentially, it says, “You didn’t really just hear the bald-faced lie you think you just heard.” “Opinions” must earn value in the marketplace of ideas, and are not automatically entitled to an audience. Yes, opinionators have a right to speak. But, no, they have no “right” or entitlement to be heard, and can never be used as a rebuttal to provable facts.
Opinions < Facts.
Countenancing a lie is not “tolerance.” It is cowardice.
Let’s check back with each other tomorrow.
