I guess it’s all downhill from here for D-Backs pitcher Tyler Gilbert, who last night no-hit the Padres in his first major league start. Only three other guys have ever done that. Who can forget Bobo Hollomon, who until last night was the most recent pitcher to record a no-hitter in his MLB debut. In 1953.
On the flip side, lotsa guys have thrown No-No’s this season. That’s eight and counting, which ties a MLB record that dates back to 1884 (no typo), the first year that overhand pitching was allowed.
Look, I am painfully aware that the Texans will be lucky to win four games this season. But, my goodness, they played hard last night at Lambeau. They played way harder than the Packers did. As a fan, that’s really all I ever demand. And it’s obvious that the team likes playing for new HC David Culley.
So Dak will return to full-speed practice this week? It’s breath holding time for Cowboy fans. I choose optimism.
Right now Jacoby Brissett is a better NFL quarterback than Tua. There, I said it.
Justin Fields, si.
Trevor Lawrence, si.
Jordan Love, no.
Zach Wilson. Hell, I don’t know.
Best pre-season decision by a rookie NFL head coach? The Chargers’ Brandon Staley says Justin Herbert will not play a down. That’s “veteran coaching wisdom.”
