That team can change its name and change its uniforms and claim that it has changed its ways.
But it can’t change its stench.
And the NFL is doing nothing to clear the air.
I’m talking about the Washington Whatever They Ares This Week, of course. The one constant is owner Dan Snyder, who created and perpetuated such a toxic work environment throughout his organization that Congress felt the need to intervene.
New testimony presented Friday before the House Committee for Oversight and Reform further documents a decades-old culture of sexual assault and harassment, and further establishes Snyder’s genome as that of a pig.
This is nothing new and is not “news.” Sadly, neither is the NFL’s lack of transparency.
Sure, there has been an “investigation.” But we may never learn its results and conclusions. That’s because, get this, nobody wrote them down. That’s the league’s story, and it’s sticking to it.
Yes, attorney Roger Goodell says that attorney Beth Wilkinson, whose firm was hired to conduct the team’s internal investigation, presented her findings orally and not in writing. So the Jolly Roger has maintained there is no formal document to release, and that the investigation’s findings cannot be publicly disclosed without the permission of…Daniel Snyder.
Meet the new boss…same as the old boss…
The Good Ol’ Boys are still calling the shots.
